A Year in Nature
This reportage project invited anyone (of any age or artistic ability) to get up close and creative with nature for a whole year!
Partipants were encouraged to ‘adopt’ a patch or area of nearby nature (wildflower areas, hedges, verges, fields, trees, the community orchard, the river, wharf stream, Wytham wood, Millennium wood etc) and document its growth and change through all the seasons for a year. Observations and responses could be in any media ( paintings, poems, photos, drawings, collages, films, stories, textiles, songs, sculpture etc. ).
The creative responses were shared as they were posted with the community (via a digital gallery) and contributed to a diverse, rich and valuable local nature diary that helped raise awareness and connection with our nearby wild spaces and species.
Individual trees, areas of field, stream and verge were closely observed and captured in poems, paintings, photographs, collages, soundscapes and ceramics.
